Oscars 2006: The Winners

See who's taking home statues at the 78th annual Academy Awards

No clear overall winner at this year's Oscars: Though Crash winning Best Picture was surely the biggest surprise of the night, the film won only two other awards, tying with King Kong, Memoirs of a Geisha, and Brokeback Mountain for the most awards won. As expected, Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote) and Resse Witherspoon (Walk the Line) took home Best Actor and Best Actress.

A pregnant Rachel Weisz won Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Constant Gardener. Meanwhile thrice-nominated George Clooney went 1-for-3, winning Best Supporting Actor for Syriana, only to later lose in the Best Director category to Brokeback's Ang Lee.
