Chameleon Philip Seymour Hoffman can add action movie villain to his filmography: He'll face off against Tom Cruise in May's Mission: Impossible III. He'll also cameo in June's Strangers With Candy.... Currently filming the orphan-seeking-parents drama August Rush, busiest bee Terrence Howard has the OutKast musical Idlewild due out Aug. 25, the medical thriller Awake in the can, and is signed on to headline both P.D.R. (that's Philadelphia Department of Recreation, folks), about swim coach Jim Ellis, and The Brave One, opposite Jodie Foster.... New father Heath Ledger is taking some time off, although his 2006 Australian druggie drama Candy is currently making the festival rounds.... Joaquin Phoenix will play a gang-affiliated nightclub owner who squares off against cop brother (Mark Wahlberg) in We Own the Night.... David Strathairn, now in the midst of shooting the legal thriller Fracture, will next play a coach in the football drama We Are Marshall, opposite Matthew McConaughey. He can also be seen in next month's The Notorious Bettie Page and the indie The Sensation of Sight, which is currently seeking distribution.
