Reality Check (2006)

Details Release Date: Mar 07, 2006; Lead Performance: Juvenile; Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Some rappers grow up gracefully. Most don't. So it's not shocking to find 30-year-old New Orleans native Juvenile continuing to justify his moniker on Reality Check, his seventh solo album. Aside from the nihilistic Katrina reaction ''Get Ya Hustle On'' and its potent video shot in N.O.'s wrecked Lower Ninth Ward, Reality is stymied by flavorless playboy posturing. The worst offender: spoken-word slow jam ''Addicted,'' on which Juve ridiculously channels Tom Cruise's misogynistic Magnolia motivator.
