Paramedic (with cute bangs!) who stuck her hand in a patient's wound that happened to contain unexploded ammunition. She later panicked and ran, forcing Meredith to take her place holding the bomb.

Ultracompetitive, arrogant, and snarky intern who's beginning to soften thanks to her relationship with Burke. Was pregnant with his child but suffered a miscarriage. Meredith's best friend. Not very good with infants — especially Bailey's.

ADDISON

Derek's wife, who slept with his best friend, Mark, causing Derek to move to Seattle and hook up with Meredith. Has reunited with Derek but still feels vaguely threatened by Meredith. Resembles a young Catherine Deneuve — though Derek doesn't see it.

Steven W. Bailey
Bartender at Emerald City. Was admitted to hospital in Sept. 25 episode after he collapsed. Empathetic confidant to Meredith and her posse.

BURKE
Isaiah Washington
Brilliant surgeon and Cristina's boyfriend. Operated on and saved the patient with bazooka ammunition lodged in his chest. Also, a fine dancer.

IZZIE
Katherine Heigl
Former model and trailer-park babe with a fondness for Christmas and the horizontal mambo. Recently confided to her pregnant teenage patient that she gave up a daughter for adoption 11 years ago — a fact none of her friends know. Has a growing affection for Denny, though she's still sleeping with Alex.

DENNY
Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Heart-transplant patient who charmed Izzie with compliments. Looks mighty handsome despite the whole near-death thing.

ALEX
Justin Chambers
Lothario of the hospital. Has an on/off relationship with Izzie that's currently very on. Still, he finds himself competing with Denny for Izzie's attention.

CALLIE
Sara Ramirez
Orthopedic surgeon who's hot for George. Not turned off by his poorly cut hair.

NURSE OLIVIA
Sarah Utterback
Cutie-pie nurse who caught syphilis from her call-room action with Alex — which she then passed on to George. Despite their nasty breakup, she still carries a torch for George.
