Taylor Hawkins & the Coattail Riders (2006)

The title, Taylor Hawkins & the Coattail Riders is a clue that Foo Fighters drummer Hawkins knows this collection of T. Rex-influenced rock is a trifle. But it is a pleasant trifle. Hawkins isn't a gifted hook-maker, but he can sing well enough in his gravelly middle range, and when he stumbles onto a catchy riff on ''Louise'' and ''It's OK Now,'' he's smart enough to ride it. Call him Ringo, and that's not meant as an insult.
