Born Again in the USA, the second LP by Wilco side project Loose Fur, (singer-guitarist Jeff Tweedy, percussionist Glenn Kotche, sound doctor/pinch hitter Jim O'Rourke) is more about songs than weird jams, alternating between twisted retro rock and eccentric folk rock. The jaunty centerpiece depicts a druggy Jesus, in sandals and dark jeans, attending what sounds like a Republican Party fund-raiser. A bit obvious, sure. But no less funny, or trenchant, for it.
