Right now Pink's high spirits probably have a lot to do with the slight baseball-capped guy who flew into Paris this afternoon and has just met up with her at the hotel: motocross champion Carey Hart, who the singer married on Jan. 7. Polite and quiet, Hart seems happy to fade into the background of Pink's entourage, except when lunging paparazzi prompt him to wrap a protective arm around his new wife. And Pink is happy to cede the spotlight to Hart whenever she is in his world. ''The best times of my life lately have been going to his supercross autograph signings,'' she says. ''All the little kids push past me to get to him. One day I want to be the drummer in a punk band so I can keep my hair in my face and not say s---.''
The unlikelihood of that happening anytime soon or ever becomes clear later that night when Pink performs ''Stupid Girls'' at the vast indoor Bercy Stadium, swaggering across the stage like a true pop megastar and delightedly rolling her tongue around lines like ''What happened to the dream of a girl president/She's dancing in the video next to 50 Cent!'' Just to make sure that her point is made, Pink wanders across to one of her dancers, who is dressed up to look like a typical hip-hop video vixen and once again displaying those impressive fighting skills pretends to knee her in the face.
After the show, Pink denies that this is an act of violence she would actually like to visit on, say, Paris Hilton. (Hilton herself declined to comment for this article, as did Simpson, Olsen, and Lindsay Lohan.) What really seems to get Pink's goat, however, is the subject of Hilton's forthcoming album. ''The irony will be me losing a Grammy to her next year,'' says Pink. Would she knee Paris in the face then? ''No,'' she says, ''I would laugh. It would completely prove my point.'' Which is... ''That the world is just plain wrong. Ha, ha, ha!''
Jab. Jab. Uppercut. Knockout.
