Germany's premier metal provocateurs have grown crossover-minded (relatively speaking) since their unlikely 1998 international breakthrough, Sehnsucht; here on Rosenrot, they're more melodic but no less transgressive. The men still sing/bellow largely en Deutsche, except on the ''love'' song ''Te Quiero Puta!'' and a bilingual power ballad duet where guest vocalist Sharleen Spiteri serenades a dream dude who strangles her. The music shreds, but minus the stage spectacle, their schtick remains uneasy listening.
