The rich alto of jazz pro Cassandra Wilson over the nuanced roots recordings of a Grammy-winning producer (T-Bone Burnett) should equal near perfection, right? Except the porous, dragging tunes on Thunderbird never quite amount to more than rumbling soundscapes.
