Great remixers, like great ballad interpreters, take songs to wildly unlikely places while respecting the material. LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy and partner Tim Goldsworthy, a.k.a. DFA, do just that on The DFA Remixes - Chapter 1. Drunk on techno synths and disco percussion, they make dance-floor whoopee with Jon Spencer (whose 10-minute-plus ''Mars Arizona'' shows his Blues Explosion was always funkier than Jack White's), Gorillaz, Le Tigre, and others. But alas, you'll have to comb the Internet for their take on Britney Spears' ''What's Your Name?''
