New songs by Nelly Furtado and others
NELLY FURTADO, ''NO HAY IGUAL (CLUB MIX)''
Three years after her last album, Folklore, reinforced her as an eclectic artist, the Canadian-bred singer offers another twist to her musical temperament with this Spanish-language dance track. Produced by freak-funk god Timbaland, ''No Hay Igual'' which translates to ''there is no equal'' summons ominous synths and syncopated percussion that give it a fresh, futuristic bounce. It's an enticing preview of her new album, Loose, due June 20. Listen to it at her official site or buy it on iTunes.
PETE KUZMA & BILAL, ''HIGH AND DRY''
Covering a band like Radiohead is a daunting proposition. Challenging and fearless, they manage to push the idea of contemporary rock forward with each new release. But on this brilliant redo of their classic Bends single, soul producer Kuzma and jazzy singer Bilal don't try to update the Oxford group. Instead, they take them back to the heyday of '70s soul. There's nothing ''neo'' about this lived-in groove with its sultry sway, this ''High and Dry'' could have lived in a past life as an easy-does-it Marvin Gaye standard. REGINA SPEKTOR, ''FIDELITY''
Powerful pipes are timeless. NYC chanteuse Spektor can belt with the best, but she also knows when to hold back. Like Fiona Apple, she stays strong even when whispering on "Fidelity," one of three new tracks she's currently offering exclusively online. Lithe acoustic strums inject this heart-tugger with an airy playfulness. Buy the song on Rhapsody.
DABRYE FEATURING MF DOOM, ''AIR (REMIX)''
Skulking out of the speakers with the creepy saunter of a robot zombie, this experimental rap bust-up from Detroit producer Dabrye is half Transformers and half ninth circle of hell. Bizarre lyrical guru MF Doom matches the evil beat with a batch of non-sequitur venom-laced blows. Alien as it may be, this remix will result in vicious head nods all the same.
