The Break-Up
5RELEASE DATE June 2
WHY WE CAN'T WAIT Because Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston are two of our favorite funny people. Oh, and because we're shameless voyeurs who want to see if any of the reported real-life chemistry between the stars shows up on screen.
THE PREMISE Unlike most romantic comedies, this one begins with the couple's bitter split but they continue to live together in the condo they both own.
SOURCE An original screenplay by Jeremy Garelick and Jay Lavender, from a story by Vaughn, Garelick, and Lavender
THE BACKSTORY Director Peyton Reed says he didn't know during the shoot that his stars might be starting a romance off-camera. ''I have to plead ignorance in terms of what was going on during the [shoot],'' he says. ''All I knew was they had amazing chemistry on camera and, frankly, that was all I cared about.''
BURNING QUESTION Will viewers want to see a fictional Aniston break-up after having been subjected to the real thing in endless detail for the last year and a half?
COME FOR Aniston, whose performance is said to be revealing in more ways than one (though Reed is coy about just how nude her nude scene is)
STAY FOR Such scene-stealers as Judy Davis and Vaughn pal Jon Favreau
