Release Date: May 16, 2006; Lead Performance: Ricardo Villalobos; Genre: Electronica

Salvador, a collection of early club singles by the Berlin-based electronic composer, is a perfect primer on the pleasures of minimalist techno — gleaming synth lines spray-painted over skittering percussion and bulbous 4/4 bass pulses. Ricardo Villalobos is a master of the form, and while this set isn't as sublime as 2003's more living-room-oriented Alcachofa, it still shows off the man's gelatinous textures, exquisite sound detailing, and warm, shell-game beats. And his 15-minute remix of SeƱor Coconut's ''Electrolatino'' takes salsa into deep cyberspace.
