Sanaa Lathan and Simon Baker showcase real chemistry in Something New, this romantic comedy about an uptight black executive and an easygoing white landscaper who meet cute. But director Sanaa Hamri wastes her talented leads (and equally A-list supporting players Alfre Woodard, Blair Underwood, and Donald Faison) with a clunky, standard-issue sitcom script. EXTRAS The cast offers five grueling minutes of lame first-date tips like no drive-through restaurants and ''be honest.'' And all the back patting among Hamri, writer Kriss Turner, and producer Stephanie Allain in their vapid making-of is certainly nothing new.
