Move by Yourself (2006)

At its upbeat, organ-driven best, this second CD from Donavon Frankenreiter calls to mind the funkier work of Tim Buckley or the undervalued early solo albums of Stephen Stills. At other times, as on ''By Your Side'' and ''Let It Go,'' he seems to be competing with friend and fellow former professional surfer Jack Johnson to see how laid-back you can get without inducing comas. Never less than agreeable, Move by Yourself should, in any case, delight beach-barbecuing wave catchers and hammock manufacturers alike.
