10-11PM
The Dead Zone (USA, TV-PG-L)
Second sight's no good when you can't see the forest for the trees.
Johnny Smith (Anthony Michael Hall, left) may be on the verge of stopping
malevolent mastermind Janus (Martin Donovan), if he could just figure
out what the guy's up to. What's at stake? Only the end of the
world Janus pulls the strings on rising star Congressman Stillson (Sean
Patrick Flanery), who Johnny foresees will bring about Armageddon. That
this occurs on the eve of the politician's wedding to Miranda (Laura
Harris) who's crushing on Johnny is bad timing. Or maybe it's Miranda who's clouding Johnny's visions. B+

SERIES DEBUT
8-10PM
Treasure Hunters (NBC, TV-PG-L)
NBC wants you to think this Amazing Race knockoff has something to do
with The Da Vinci Code; really, it's just an Amazing Race knockoff. Ten
teams of three including former CIA interns, Texan dudes with mullets,
and the now-requisite crazy religious family race through a global
scavenger hunt in hopes of winning...something. It's not clear what.
Which makes the whole thing seem kind of like the most out-of-control
kiddie birthday party ever. I hope there's cake! C+ Whitney Pastorek
