+ Kevin Bacon will face a Death Sentence come September, when he begins filming the thriller from Saw director James Wan. ''I play a guy whose son is killed and makes the mistake of taking the law into his own hands,'' says Bacon. ''It's going to be pretty hardcore action.''

+ In Bloom, a thriller from House of Sand and Fog director Vadim Perelman, will star Uma Thurman as a woman struggling to maintain order in her life after she survives a school shooting.

+ Marcia Gay Harden and William Hurt have joined the cast of Sean Penn's fourth directorial effort, Into the Wild, based on Jon Krakauer's nonfiction book. The two will play parents confronting tragedy after their college-grad son (Emile Hirsch) takes a solo trip in the wilderness.
