Matt Damon (Syriana), 35, and wife Luciana Bozan, 30, welcomed their
first child, Isabella, on June 11 in Miami.... Jack Black (Nacho Libre),
36, and wife Tanya Haden, 34, greeted a son on June 10 in L.A.
EXPECTING
Arrested Development superdad Jason Bateman, 37, and wife Amanda Anka,
37, will welcome their first child in the fall.
SPLIT
Director David Lynch (Twin Peaks), 60, filed for divorce from Mary
Sweeney, 51, his wife of one month, on June 12 in L.A. She's been
credited as an editor, writer, or producer on many of his projects. The
pair has a 14-year-old son.
COURTS
Lawyers for Charlie Sheen, 40, and Denise Richards, 35, agreed on June 7
to extend a temporary restraining order against Sheen by three weeks.
The document, initially issued April 21 in L.A., requires the actor to
stay 300 yards away from his estranged wife.... On June 8, a judge
ordered a retrial to start Oct. 16 in the wrongful-death suit filed
against the city of Los Angeles by the family of rapper Notorious B.I.G. (né Christopher Wallace). A mistrial was declared last July after the
court determined that a detective failed to release documents that may
have incriminated ex-LAPD officers in the unsolved 1997 shooting....
Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer, 48, is being sued by G&I Holst,
Ltd., for copyright infringement. The music publisher alleges in papers
filed April 12 in London that Zimmer's score for the 2000 film Gladiator mimics parts of The Planets, by late classical composer Gustav Holst.
''Zimmer's work...is not in any sense a copy,'' says his laywer....
Paparazzo Cullen Reavley filed suit against Britney Spears, 24,
in L.A. on June 6. He claims that the star's SUV (with Spears' mother,
Lynne, 51, reportedly behind the wheel) hit him in June 2004. Reavley
contends that he sustained permanent injury to his neck and back.
Spears' rep could not be reached for comment.... Paris Hilton, 25, was
named in a May 30 suit filed by L.A. motorist Ivan Alvarez, 21. He
claims Hilton's cousin Brooke Ashley Brinson caused an accident in 2004
while driving the heiress' car. (Hilton was not in the vehicle.)
Alvarez, who was in the pileup, seeks $1 million in damages.
RECOVERING
CBS News correspondent Kimberly Dozier, 39, is in critical but stable
condition after arriving in the U.S. on June 7. She will undergo further
treatment at a Bethesda, Md., hospital for leg injuries sustained in
Iraq when a car bomb exploded while Dozier was taping a segment on May
29.... Loretta Lynn, 71, is on the mend after a June 8 surgery to fix a
broken shoulder. The injury — which occurred at her Hurricane Mills,
Tenn., home — has forced the country legend to cancel nine
performances.... On June 11, Jerry Lewis, 80, reportedly suffered a mild
heart attack. At press time, he was said to be recuperating in a San
Diego hospital, where he was also being treated for pneumonia.
DEATHS
Lula Mae Hardaway, 76, the mother of Stevie Wonder and a co-writer of
several of his hits, like ''Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours,'' of
undetermined causes, May 31, in L.A.... Ingo Preminger (late filmmaker
Otto's brother), 95, an agent who championed blacklisted writers and
also produced the movie M*A*S*H, of undetermined causes, June 7, in
Pacific Palisades, Calif.
