NEIL GAIMAN
Must Revivalist

AGE 45
WHY HIM We could tell you why Gaiman — the award-winning writer of the landmark Sandman comics and New York Times best-sellers American Gods and Anansi Boys — is reimagining Marvel Comics' The Eternals, but we thought it'd be cooler if he told you himself, in the form of a comic. (The first issue of The Eternals is out now.)

FRANK PORTMAN
Must 'Dork'

AGE 41
WHY HIM His debut young-adult novel, King Dork, follows a high school misfit trying to solve his father's death. It's an unusually entertaining peek at the teenage mind, which came easily to Portman, also known as frontman for the San Francisco punk band Mr. T Experience. ''I'm a pretty immature 41-year-old,'' he says.
NEXT Working on a new book, tentatively titled Andromeda Klein, about ''girls who end up with a fortune-telling problem,'' whatever that means.
