NINTENDO Wii
Must TV Accessory

WHY THIS A game system so elegant and easy to use, we suspect it's the work of little elves. ALL THE RIGHT MOVES The Wii (pronounced ''whee'') has a motion-sensing device in its wand-like controller — if you're playing, say, video tennis, simply hold the controller in your racket hand and make like Andy Roddick. (Extra table lamps not included.) IN STORES This fall; Nintendo is mum on the price but says it's less than Sony's $499 PlayStation 3.

CAST OF HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL
Must Musical Prodigies

NAMES/AGES Ashley Tisdale, 20; Zac Efron, 18; Lucas Grabeel, 21; Vanessa Anne Hudgens, 17 WHY THEMMore than 11 million tweens have watched Disney Channel's High School Musical since its January debut. The tale of a spunky b-ball player (Summerland's Efron) and an adorable math geek (Thirteen's Hudgens) who battle a pair of drama nerds (Tisdale from The Suite Life of Zach & Cody and newcomer Grabeel) for the leads in a school musical has since become a pop-culture phenomenon: The soundtrack climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard chart after 10 weeks and was the top seller on iTunes for three weeks. AUDITION ANXIETIES ''On the way to callbacks, I spaced and forgot I was trying out for a musical,'' says Hudgens, who didn't prepare anything to sing. (She recovered by performing an a cappella version of Kelly Clarkson's ''Low.'') ''I thought the script was kind of generic,'' admits Grabeel. ''Once I met [director] Kenny Ortega, I was like, This may actually be something cool!'' EFRON + TISDALE 4-EVA?''Boys just as often as girls run up to me,'' says Efron. ''They usually want to know if I'm dating anyone in the cast.'' Any truth to those rumors of an onset Efron-Tisdale love match? ''No!'' Tisdale exclaims. ''I've known that kid for two years!'' NEXTAll four will appear in an HSM sequel in summer 2007, while Hudgens and Tisdale are cutting debut albums; Grabeel will appear in Disney Channel's Halloweentown IV. And Disney Theatrical Productions hopes to create a stage version of HSM as early as October.

SNL'S 'TWO A-HOLES'
Must Solipsists

NAMES/AGES Kristen Wiig, 32; Jason Sudeikis, 30 WHY THEMThe gum-snapping, hilariously self-centered characters can turn any situation — from Christmas-tree shopping to identifying a car thief — into a quagmire of narcissistic non sequiturs (e.g., ''You look like a rabbit''). GUM'S RUSHThe sketch emerged during an all-night writing session as the duo were chewing gum to stay awake. ''The gum was really the catapult,'' says Wiig, who admits she was already in character. ''I really wanted to go home.'' A-HOLE PREVIEW''There's 'Two A-Holes Sign for a FedEx Package,''' says Sudeikis of possible new sketches. ''Or 'Two A-Holes Drunk at a Late-Night Burrito Place.''' NEXTMore SNL; Sudeikis and Wiig will play a married couple in the 2007 comedy Bill.
