Yes, Davis struggles initially to project authority, and cornball bombs are dropped here and there, but this series about the first female president is compelling. With its multifaceted administration, especially Sutherland as a J.R. Ewing-caliber Speaker of the House, it was an instant hit for an instant. But splitting the lone season into two separate DVD releases (Commander in Chief: Inaugural Edition, Part 1 ends cliff-hangering on a to-be-continued midseason episode) and omitting EXTRAS on this edition were major missteps.
