The Odd Couple (1970-75)

A rare case of solid source material — Neil Simon's 1965 play — becoming a movie and then an even better TV series. In fact, watching Tony Randall as fussbudget photographer Felix Unger and Jack Klugman as slobbo sportswriter Oscar Madison was like witnessing a Broadway stage hit week after week: The crack timing between this classic mismatched pair could be joyful to behold. It was the pleasure of watching two pros at work within the confines of a studio-audience sitcom that made The Odd Couple special.
