The subtitle of Belle de Jour ''Diary of an Unlikely Call Girl'' is certainly provocative, even promising. But the thrills are cheap and fleeting in this blog-turned-book-turned-bore. (The author is the media-savvy mind behind belledujour.co.uk.) More profane than profound, Belle barely manages to limp through its yawn-inducing narrative (''I was cleaning off the makeup shelves...''). But worse than torpid lines like ''holiday sex is always the best sex'' or her pretentious flourishes en français is the ''A-Z of London Sex Work,'' a chapter-topping framing device that proves about as exciting as it is original: ''R is for Relationships''; ''S is for Sexy.'' Well, S is also for snore.
