Until 2004, pianist Brad Mehldau enjoyed a decadelong run with bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Jorge Rossy: Such consistency — rare in jazz these days — paid off in cohesion. These original compositions on House on Hill reveal the trio's subtly charged interplay and the ingenious manner with which Mehldau blends structure and improvisational flow.
