union legal June 25 in Venice, Italy. The pair have a 3-year-old girl,
Harlow.... Lost's Emilie de Ravin, 24, wed actor Josh Janowicz (The
Chumscrubber), also 24, on June 19 in Sydney.
BIRTH
Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: SVU), 42, and actor hubby Peter Hermann(United 93), 38, greeted their first child, son August, on June 28 in
L.A.
COURTS
Nick Nolte (Hotel Rwanda), 65, has reached an undisclosed settlement
with the parents of a teenage girl who says she was drugged and raped
during a party at the actor's Malibu home in January 2003. Nolte was not
present at the time.... Paramount Pictures sued Yale grad student Chris
Moukarbel, 28, on June 16 in Washington, D.C., for using a bootleg
script of Oliver Stone's upcoming 9/11 drama World Trade Center to make
a 12-minute student film. Moukarbel insists the short ''is a commentary
on Hollywood's authority to write history.''... On June 26, Boy George(né George O'Dowd), 45, was ordered to five days of manual labor with
the NYC Department of Sanitation for falsely telling police his
apartment had been broken into last October. Police said they found
cocaine in the singer's home; he claimed it did not belong to him.
DIVORCED
Former Newlyweds Jessica Simpson, 25, and Nick Lachey, 32, officially
ended their nearly four-year marriage on June 30 in L.A.
RELEASED
On July 3, pint-size rapper Lil' Kim, 30, was released almost three
months early from prison for good behavior. She was sentenced to one
year and a day after committing perjury when testifying about a
radio-show shoot-out in NYC.
ARRESTED
The Axl Rose show continues: A month after his altercation with Tommy
Hilfiger, the Guns N' Roses frontman, 44, was arrested June 27 in
Stockholm, Sweden, after allegedly biting a security guard in the leg,
as well as damaging his hotel room. Rose was held for 12 hours and paid
a $7,000 fine.
RECOVERING
Actor Rob Schneider, 42, collapsed June 28 on the Stockton, Calif., set
of his upcoming comedy Big Stan, due to a combination of food poisoning
and heat exhaustion. He is said to be fully recovered and back at
work.... On June 29, David Hasselhoff, 53, underwent hand surgery to
repair a severed tendon. The former Baywatch star sustained the injury
after bumping his head on the chandelier of his London hotel room, which
resulted in shards of falling glass and chrome cutting him.
DEATHS
Claydes ''Charles'' Smith, 57, a cofounder of Kool & the Gang, after a
long illness, June 20, in Maplewood, N.J.... Grammy-winning producer
Arif Mardin, 74, who worked with artists like Aretha Franklin and Norah
Jones, of pancreatic cancer, June 25, in NYC.... Award-winning theater
director Lloyd Richards (A Raisin in the Sun), 83, of heart failure,
June 29, in NYC.... Fabián Bielinsky, 47, director of the acclaimed film
Nine Queens, of unknown causes, June 29, in São Paulo, Brazil.... And
finally, Moose, 16 (or 80 in dog years), the Jack Russell terrier who
originally played Eddie on Frasier, of natural causes, June 22, in
Venice, Calif.
