LONG STRANGE TRIP
Due in spring 2007, Stardust is the story of a man (Charlie Cox) who
travels to a mystical land to catch a falling star for his fair lady
(Sienna Miller). Unbeknownst to the besotted lad, the star has
transformed into a lovely young lass (Claire Danes).
GETTING HER GOAT
Michelle Pfeiffer plays a wicked witch out to eat Danes' heart. (Yum.)
Here, Pfeiffer, her magic fading, commands a goat-driven chariot
(instead of a flashier horse-drawn carriage). At least it's not a Ford
Pinto.
RAISING THE BARD?
Robert De Niro stars as the enigmatic Captain Shakespeare, a
lightning-peddling pirate who captures Cox and Danes. Seriously.
SPEAKING OF DE NIRO...''It's The Princess Bride meets Midnight Run,'' says director Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake). ''Our hero is the De Niro character and the star is Charles Grodin. In our film, they fall in love. Maybe they fell in love in Midnight Run, but that was another cut.''
