Director Brian Robbins' contemporary spin on the man-turned-pooch tale The Shaggy Dog manages to rise above rehashed Disney drivel like Herbie: Fully Loadedand The Parent Trap, thanks to Tim Allen's game dedication to growling his lines and sniffing and licking his fellow players. EXTRAS Four deleted scenes, a too-brief blooper reel crawling with animal antics, and the canine karaoke ''Bark-along'' bonus don't compensate for Allen's conspicuous absence on the commentary or lack of a making-of featurette.
