Lemonade (2006)

EW's GRADE
B

Details Release Date: Aug 01, 2006; Lead Performance: G. Love; Genre: Rock

A dozen years on, G. Love is still kicking his marble-mouthed raps over junkyard funk that makes the coeds in the Quad go crazy. His second disc on Jack Johnson's label, Lemonade is G. Love's strongest album since the mid-'90s, with plenty of his charm and a few well-timed guests (Blackalicious, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper) to distract from his limited singing and rapping skills. Except for the painful resignation of ''Breaking Up,'' there isn't much emotional heft here, which is okay — it's hard to Hacky Sack along with sad songs.
