Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny (2006)

Cue the drool from Tenacious D fans: Pick unspools the origin story of the delusional acoustic-metal duo (Jack Black and Kyle Gass) and follows them on a quest for a guitar pick with rock-god-giving powers. Says Black of this unlikely epic: ''Did you ever get up the 12-year-old nerve to put on a skit for the school assembly? It's kinda like that — taken to its R-rated extreme.'' Alas, he's coy about spilling too many juicy D-tails. ''I don't know if this is cool to tell you, but not only do we have Ben Stiller, Tim Robbins, and Amy Poehler in the film, we also have Satan and Sasquatch,'' Black says. ''And it's some of their best work.''
