In 2005 Warner Independent broke records with a little doc about cuddly penguins questing for survival. This year Warner Bros. has a CG penguin (Elijah Wood) searching for his soul mate. But cowriter/director George Miller isn't following in March of the Penguins' footsteps; his film was in the works for over two years before Penguins hit theaters. ''Warner [picked up March] knowing that our film was coming along,'' says Miller, who jokes that Penguins owes him for its success: ''We showed them lots of doc footage, so I guess that made the studio much more sensitive to how brilliant penguins are.''
