American Outlaws (2001)

Details Release Date: Aug 17, 2001; Rated: PG-13; Length: 94 Minutes; With: Scott Caan, Colin Farrell and Ali Larter; Distributor: Warner Bros.

He was the Michael Jordan of his time. A dead eyed shooter. Wildly charismatic. Astonishingly successful in his chosen field. Okay, so his chosen field happened to be bank robbing and cold blooded murder -- but, hey, the outlaw Jesse James still has youngsters going bang bang with index fingers in their backyards. At least Warner Bros. hopes so. Working in the studio's favor is the casting of Farrell -- who went from zero to must have hot young thing in 2.7 seconds after starring in last year's Vietnam era drama ''Tigerland.''

And once there was a star in the saddle, some high plains skills needed to be picked up. ''Everyone else had to learn how to ride horses, but I had learned when I was 5. And I started robbing banks when I was 11,'' laughs Macht, who plays Frank, Jesse's older brother and partner in crime. ''But it's definitely not a biopic. We made a Robin Hood version.'' Gotcha. The Prince of Steeds.
