If ''Benjamin'' refers to singer Ben Burnley, he's clearly already broken. Nearly every track on the Pennsylvania hard-rockers Breaking Benjamin's third CD is a cry in the darkness of a cruel world. Lyrics like ''Borderline/dead inside/I don't mind'' (''Unknown Soldier'') and ''put me to sleep, evil angel/Open your wings, evil angel'' (um, ''Evil Angel'') are, frankly, on the lighter side of Phobia. But as pathological angst goes, it's expertly done, with expansive choruses and epic riffs not that that matters, when, like, we're all going to die cold and alone anyway.
