Details Release Date: Aug 29, 2006; Lead Performance: Sam Moore; Genre: R&B

The '60s soul man's skills are remarkably intact, but he still hedges bets by filling the ''...and Dave'' slot with a parade of stars. Producer Randy Jackson (yes, that Randy Jackson) brings more true gloss than grit, but once you're past flinching at the idea of a cooing female chorus coming between Sam 'n' Springsteen, you'll have a good time. Other things on Overnight Sensational that shouldn't work but do: Jon Bon Jovi helping Sam Moore cover Bill Withers, Wynonna as a soul sister, Mariah Carey's dog whistle, and even (almost) a Fantasia-abetted reclamation of a Milli Vanilli hit.
