Amerie
The stunning R&B singer reports that she is 99 percent finished with her
third album, None of the Above, which was mostly recorded in a small New
Jersey studio. Shunning big-name beatmakers, Amerie produced the bulk of
the disc (due out next March) and boasts that she even ''dusted off my
flute and played'' on one of the songs.
Fall Out Boy
Currently working on the follow-up to their multi-platinum 2005
breakthrough, From Under the Cork Tree, in Los Angeles, the Chicago emo
titans have brought in two producers: Neil Avron, who helmed their last
album, and of all people Atlanta R&B maestro Babyface. The
yet-to-be-named album is scheduled for an early 2007 release.
Fountains of Wayne
''The sound is a cross between 'Dirrty'-period Xtina and early Cannibal
Corpse,'' jokes Fountains of Wayne's Adam Schlesinger of the band's
untitled fourth album, due next March on Virgin. ''And Sting makes a
guest appearance playing 16th-century melodies on a lute.'' Our
translation? Expect more witty, hypercatchy power pop.
