Actor-director Jon Favreau (The Break-Up), 39, and physician wife Joya Tillem, 36, welcomed their third child, Brighton Rose Favreau, on Aug. 29 in L.A.

ENGAGED
Actor-director Emilio Estevez (Bobby), 44, revealed plans to marry journalist Sonja Magdevski. No wedding date has been set.

DEPARTURES
On Sept. 5, Viacom announced its CEO, Tom Freston, 60, has left his post. Freston, one of the founders of MTV, will be replaced by Viacom board member Philippe Daufman, 52. This upheaval comes two weeks after Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone, 83, severed ties between Paramount—the studio that Freston oversaw — and Tom Cruise.

RECOVERING
Ellen DeGeneres, 48, and girlfriend Portia de Rossi, 33, sustained minor injuries after their car was rear-ended in L.A. on Sept. 1. The woman believed to have caused the crash was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI.

ARRESTS
Lost actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, 39, was arrested and charged with driving without a license after being pulled over Sept. 2 in Waikiki. A court date is scheduled for Sept. 26. His rep did not return calls for comment.

COURTS
Jennifer Aniston, 37, settled the lawsuit she filed last year against Peter Brandt, a photographer who allegedly tried to sell topless pictures he took of the actress sunbathing at her L.A. home. The matter was ''amicably resolved,'' says her lawyer.... Producer Brian Grazer(Cinderella Man), 54, filed a request to repeal legal separation from his wife, novelist Gigi Levangie Grazer, Sept. 5 in L.A. The couple split in May.... Isley Brothers frontman Ronald Isley, 65, was sentenced to 37 months in prison Sept. 1 following his October 2005 conviction for evading over $3 million in federal taxes.... On Aug. 29, an L.A. judge ordered Kim Basinger, 52, to appear in court Oct. 4 after Alec Baldwin, 48, accused her of ignoring a court order to inform him when she's out of town so that he can look after their 10-year-old daughter. ''This is nothing more than continued harassment,'' says Basinger's lawyer.... On Aug. 23, a Manhattan court granted The Beatles permission to pursue a lawsuit accusing Capitol and EMI Records of deliberately withholding royalties. The Fab Four are seeking to claim all rights to their recordings. EMI reps said they will ''likely challenge the finding.''

CONTROVERSY
The corporate tribes have spoken. On Aug. 30, it was revealed that longtime Survivor sponsor General Motors had opted out of the show's upcoming 13th season in the Cook Islands, which divides tribes by race. Less than a week later, Home Depot, Campbell's Soup, and Coca-Cola reportedly followed suit.

DEATHS
Screenwriter Joseph Stefano (Psycho), 84, of heart failure, Aug. 25, in Thousand Oaks, Calif.... Dancer Willi Ninja (Paris Is Burning), 45, the inspiration behind Madonna's ''Vogue'' video, reportedly of AIDS-related complications, Sept. 2, in New York City.

LEGACY
Steve Irwin 1962-2006
Aussie Irwin, best known as the Crocodile Hunter, was killed Sept. 4 while filming a TV special near the Great Barrier Reef. His heart was fatally stabbed by a stingray — an event as rare as ''getting hit by lightning,'' says zoologist Jack Hanna, who once worked with Irwin. The 44-year-old Animal Planet host will forever be remembered, says Hanna, as ''a conservationist dynamo who was always pumped up on animals and life.''
