The Deal Report

TELEVISION+ James Cromwell (Six Feet Under) and Eddie Izzard (My Super Ex-Girlfriend) have a hard day's work ahead of them starting in January when they join season 6 of Fox's 24. Cromwell comes aboard as Phillip Bauer, the estranged father of Jack (Kiefer Sutherland), while British actor Izzard plays evildoer Darren McCarthy.

+ Far more chilled out (but oddly, no less dramatic) is FX's plastic-surgery dramedy Nip/Tuck, which will show love to anesthesiologist Liz Cruz (Roma Maffia) . She'll embark on a three-episode lesbian tryst with guest Alanis Morissette beginning Oct. 31.

MOVIES+ Two years after giving Alfie a face-lift, Jude Law will star in a remake of another Michael Caine film, 1972's Sleuth — this time, with the veteran actor in tow. Directed by Kenneth Branagh, Sleuth features Law as a younger man pining for the wife of an older gentleman (Caine). ''Jude and [scripter] Harold Pinter developed this screenplay for three years,'' says Branagh. ''The tone is darker, more sinister, viciously funny [with] several new twists.''
