THREE TIMES THE LADY
John Travolta plays hausfrau Edna Turnblad in this '60s-set
musical (out next summer) about racial integration. A mix of the 1988
John Waters flick and the current Broadway hit, this version also stars
Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Christopher Walken.
EXTREME MAKEOVER
''He seemed like a natural fit,'' enthuses director Adam Shankman (The
Pacifier) of Travolta. Say what? ''Because he's a song-and-dance man.''
While busting out some unique moves, Travolta gamely donned a full-body
prosthetic and support hose. Marvels Shankman: ''The details are
unbelievable.''
SOUND BARRIER
''John was concerned about how to top Grease,'' says Shankman. ' Spray,
which includes three new tunes, also features the actor belting out
older ones, like '' (You're) Timeless to Me'' and ''Welcome to the '60s.''
''I told him, 'You don't have to compete with Danny Zuko, because you're
a woman!'''
