NO FLOW The first novel-length ''Doggy Tale'' has very little bite

There's no way to gauge how much Snoop Dogg participated in the writing of his debut novel, which centers on Ulysses, a young Long Beach, Calif., man torn between the drug-dealing life and the rhyme life. For all of the focus on Ulysses' freestyle skills, though, we never actually see any lyrics, which is unforgivable given that a rapper's name is on the jacket. With characters that pile stereotype upon ghetto stereotype, this 8 Mile/Get Rich or Die Tryin' mash-up gets no love. Worse, the subtitle of Love Don't Live Here No More, ''Doggy Tales: Vol. 1,'' suggests that there are more books on the way.
