If Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny is ''the greatest motion picture of all time,'' as Jack Black claims (see our extended Q&A with him and Kyle Gass here), we must ask: What are the best music movies of all time? Behold Black's Top 5 list.

1. Yellow Submarine (1968)
I loved it because of the art. I love good hand-drawn animation, and it had some supercreative psychedelic animation — that giant hand, the Blue Meanies. It just makes me excited and happy — so happy I want to barf. The music wasn't bad, either... Were those really the Beatles' voices in there, or did they just get imitation Beatles for that? Because if they were imitation Beatles, I'm taking this back.

2. This Is Spinal Tap (1984)
I mean, it's so obvious I shouldn't even say it. Nah, I'm not going to say it. I'm not going to say Spinal Tap... Yes, I am! That's the gold standard. Forget music comedy — that's the one that all comedians point to as the great ''What the f--- was that?'' It's not just a comedy — that's like one for the ages. They're so f---ing funny, they changed comedy. And the songs were so clever.

3. Footloose (1984)
It's superenjoyable because of its hot corn and cheese. Sometimes if you go deep enough into the corn and cheese, it comes out the other end and it's still corn and cheese, but it's delicious.

4. The Wizard of Oz (1939)
Just because they had some sweet jams in there. It's one of the great crowd pleasers of all time. Not just for the gay folks.

5. The Point (1971)
I saw it [on TV] when I was a kid. It's all about this little boy who didn't have a point on his head and all the people in the land of the Point had a pointy head and he didn't fit in and he was banished to the pointless forest where he had an incredible adventure and learned very important lessons about the universe. I like lessons about the universe... Very stoner-y. Things designed for children end up being the most stoner-y of all. The Point falls into that category. You definitely want to watch that wasted.
