After the misfire of 2004's convoluted A Crow Left of the Murder, it's a treat to find Incubus streamlining its sound on Light Grenades. There's something for everyone in the band's textured blend of jittery nü-metal rhythms, nimble guitar gymnastics, and modal vocal harmonies, especially when combined with frontman Brandon Boyd's charismatic lead singing. Equally adept at rave-ups and ballads, Incubus even make their unexpected forays into space-rock work.
