Shortbus (2006)

Shortbus is already infamous for its real on-screen sex scenes, but the Shortbus soundtrack that accompanies it gracefully avoids adult-film clichés. In place of the standard ''bow-chicka-bow-wow'' porn horns, indie avatars like Yo La Tengo, Animal Collective, and the Ark provide new, previously released, and rare tracks — the Hidden Cameras' undersung 2003 epic ''Boys of Melody'' is a standout — while several cast members perform original numbers. The result is, believe it or not, lovely brunch music: balmy, melodic, and soothing.
