Okay, it's official, Hugh Jackman is a robot. Already the hardest working man in showbiz at last count, he has four movies currently in theaters the one-time and future Wolverine will also produce a drama for CBS called Voyages with his company, Seed Productions. The show will tell stories on a luxury cruiseline from varying perspectives, but it apparently won't be anything like The Love Boat. We certainly hope so, for sleepless robot Hugh Jackman's sake! This TV bug is catching! Will and Jada Pinkett Smith are producing two comedies, one at The CW and one at ABC. The CW project, to be written by Jack & Jill creator Randi Mayem Singer, will be set in an apartment building populated mostly by divorced, single mothers, told from the perspective of the complex's security guard. The ABC project, set to be penned by Betsy Borns, who co-created The CW's All of Us with the Smiths, is about a well-off, buttoned-up black man, his blue collar Jewish liberal wife, their twins and respective live-in mothers-in-law. ER hunk John Stamos will play the heavy in A Raisin in the Sun, ABC's TV-movie adaptation of the 2004 Broadway revival of Lorraine Hansberry's award-winning play. Sean '' Diddy'' Combs, Phylicia Rashad, Audra McDonald, and Sanaa Lathan will all reprise their roles from the stage production. (Hollywood Reporter, 11/27)
Talk about good timing: Just as her Oscar-buzzed film debut in Dreamgirls nears theaters, Jennifer Hudson has signed with Arista Records to work with mega-producer Clive Davis next year on her first album.
