Even if reality TV isn't one of your favorite things, The Sound of Music revival just might be. Producer Andrew Lloyd Webber relied on an American Idol-like BBC series to cast his star, and the winner — tomboyish will-o'-the-wisp Connie Fisher — plays guitar, yodels, and vaults valiantly over furniture as flibbertigibbet Maria. The swish costumes (silver sequined gowns!) and towering sets (do the von Trapps live in an actual palace?) can be a bit much, but the Rodgers & Hammerstein show is a surprising treat, even if it's tied up in something flashier than brown paper and string.
