NO CRUISE CONTROL Before this decade's film franchise, there was the TV version of the IMF, its first season collected on the new Mission: Impossible DVD set

If there's a spy Hall of Fame, the go-getters on the Impossible Missions Force deserve their own wing. Whether staging an entire circus, conjuring a dead husband's ghost, or impersonating LSD-addicted jazz-heads, the IMFers always went away laughing. Plus, they never once took advantage of the ''should you decide to accept it'' loophole. Amazing. Mission: Impossible: The Complete First Season is charming, but prepare for the glacial pace. Apparently the set's EXTRAS self-destructed after five seconds.
