Lil Scrappy (2006)

Details Release Date: Dec 05, 2006; Lead Performance: Lil Scrappy; Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Remember crunk? Lil Scrappy hopes so. Executive-produced by falling titans 50 Cent and Lil Jon (who also add vocals), this Atlanta rapper's debut album, Bred 2 Die, Born to Live, mostly aims to revive the aggressive hip-hop style. But the stock synths and bloodthirsty chants found on tracks like ''Gangsta, Gangsta'' and ''Police'' are more likely to remind listeners why crunk had such a short shelf life in the first place. And while the melodic, down-South rhythm of Scrappy's flow can be beguiling, his atrocious lyrics make him sound like a lobotomized T.I.
