In between the freely flowing alcohol and loud proclamations about balls 'n' bubbles at this year's Golden Globes ceremony, some awards got handed out. We watched a few expected victories (J-Hud, Meryl, Helen — twice!), but also a couple upsets: Martin Scorsese and Forest Whitaker beat out double nominees Clint Eastwood and Leonardo DiCaprio for directing and acting, respectively, and Babel, the movie with the most nominations, won just one (though it happened to be a biggie: Best Motion Picture Drama). TV's darling of the evening: Best Actress America Ferrara, whose new series Ugly Betty also won Best Comedy. Slimming!

True to its capital F, the HFPA couldn't get enough of the foreigners, as Brits Emily Blunt, Bill Nighy, Sacha Baron Cohen, Jeremy Irons, and Hugh Laurie all picked up acting trophies. With three wins each, Dreamgirls and HBO's miniseries Elizabeth I hauled home the most gold.
