This year's oddly truncated Golden Globes announcement turned out to be a night of surprises and not just how much more efficient a one-hour telecast seemed. Many of the odds-on favorites like Juno's Ellen Page, 30 Rock's Alec Baldwin, or The Sopranos' Edie Falco grumbled at the TV screen having lost, while dark horses like La Vie en Rose's Marion Cotillard (Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy) and AMC's Mad Men (which won Best TV Series, Drama) emerged triumphant. In a year with no dominant presence no project won more than three major awards (and that'd be HBO's Longford, which earned Globes in the actor, supporting actress, and miniseries or TV movie categories) the love was spread around pretty evenly, if unconventionally (Julian Schnabel for Best Director over the Coen boys, really?). It remains to be seen how these wins will impact the Oscars though EW's Dave Karger brings his preternatural Academy Award prediction skills to bear for us. Meanwhile, here's the complete Globes winner list:
