My first head shot

The ''Curb Your Enthusiasm'' actress says a bad perm ad was one of her first gigs

Cheryl Hines
1988 ORLANDO, FLA.

The Curb Your Enthusiasm star, who's currently executive producer of Oxygen's Campus Ladies, landed one of her first paying gigs thanks to this photo, taken when she was about 23. ''My agent called and said, 'You've been booked for a print job.' I was like, 'Oh, my God! They just booked me from my picture? I guess I'm a model!''' recalls Hines. ''Then I found out it was for an ad for a bad perm. [In the ad] I'm holding my hair, looking at it — and it said, 'Bad perm? Call us, we can help.' The sad part was, I didn't even have a perm!'' laughs the 41-year-old. Hines' résumé on the back of the photo reveals some unlikely talents, such as golf and cosmetology. ''I went to beauty school after high school,'' she explains. ''I figured I would need a backup plan while I pursued acting.'' One other special skill listed: ''Belch on cue.'' And Hines is eager to offer a demo. ''That was a little one,'' she says, by way of excusing herself. ''It's nothing.'' Thanks, Cheryl.
