Is this Reeves' most animated performance? Hardy-har, but A Scanner Darkly, Richard Linklater's digitally redrawn take on the 1977 Philip K. Dick sorta-sci-fi novel is worth seeing: a paranoid future-stoner drama with sneaky performances by Robert Downey Jr. and Woody Harrelson.
EXTRAS
You'd think a commentary track including Reeves, Linklater, novelist
Jonathan Lethem, and Dick's daughter Isa Dick Hackett would crackle, but
it's just friendly and aimless. The pasty-faced animators in a doc on
the rotoscoping process are a lot more lively.
