The Price of Fame

EW's GRADE
C+

Details Lead Performance: Bow Wow; Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

When your rap career begins at age 13, it's not easy to age gracefully. Bow Wow has made the transition from kiddie MC to barely legal (he turns 20 next year) better than most, but on his new album, The Price of Fame, he spends too much time impersonating a brooding tough guy (''I only trust God and I only trust me''), a persona he has neither the gravitas nor the rhyme skills to pull off. He's much better on tracks like ''Bet That'': fun, featherweight pop-rap songs about partying, romance, and dropping lots of cash at the mall.
